The Council would like to thank all residents who completed the survey on corellas in Berrigan Shire in February 2023.

The survey found that for many, corella’s are a pest and that our community would like to see some action on this issue.

Corellas are protected species per the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.  The administration of this Act is the responsibility of the NSW State Government Department of Planning and the Environment.

Based on survey results and the everyday experience of residents it is evident that there is an overabundance of corellas in our community and the social and economic cost is growing.

In conjunction with the State Government, the Council is now investigating management and control options.
