Berrigan Shire Officers are internally preparing a Berrigan Rural Land Use Strategy (RLUS). The intent of the strategic document is to create a vision for the rural communities and landowners, review Councils Local Environmental Plan (LEP - planning policy) and respond to current and emerging rural land use issues and opportunities. The RLUS will includes analysis of policy and strategies, rural land use, rural industries, environmental and natural values and stakeholder consultation findings. The document will set out strategic direction for rural land and where appropriate, recommend amendments to the current LEP.

We are looking for volunteer residents connected and/or working in the agricultural sector and are seeking a variation of skills and views from our community members across the Shire.

If you are interested in being part of the working group, we are asking for individuals from our community to complete an expression of interest form and provide suitable details. This will likely be a 6 month commitment, not involve any financial reward, but help set or establish a platform for how planning may consider zoning, use, development and subdivision in our rural areas.

Expressions of interest close Wednesday, 23 October 2024.
