Land Use Classification - 12-14 Hayes Street Berrigan

At its ordinary meeting on 19 February 2025, council proposes to resolve to classify 12-14 Hayes St, Berrigan as operational land for the purposes of section 31 of the Local Government Act 1993. Council acquired this land in November 2024.

The purpose of classification is to identify clearly that land which should be kept for use by the public (community) and that land which need not (operational). The major consequence of classification is that it determines the ease or difficulty with which land may be sold or leased. Community land has significant restrictions on its sale, leasing or licencing. These restrictions do not apply to operational land.

Council wishes to classify this land as operational to allow it to develop or sell the land for future housing.

Submissions commenting on the above draft plans must be received by 5:00pm Thursday, 6 February 2025 and will be considered by the Council.
